Learning Platform Satisfaction In 2026—Infographic
eLearning Industry's report, "AI Expectation Gap in Learning Tech 2026," reveals an important disconnect in the learning technology market: vendors are considerably more optimistic about platform satisfaction than the organizations that use their products. Based on responses from 500+ L&D professionals and learning technology vendors, the findings suggest that closing this perception gap could become a major competitive advantage.
According to the report, 30% of vendors believe customers are completely satisfied with their platforms, while only 8% of L&D buyers describe themselves that way. Another 44% of vendors believe customers are mostly satisfied, compared with 31% of buyers. Most notably, 40% of buyers report feeling neutral, compared with just 10% from the vendor's perspective.
That neutrality deserves attention. It doesn't necessarily indicate that platforms are failing. Instead, it may signal that many solutions are functional without being indispensable. For vendors, that creates both a retention risk and an opportunity to turn adequate experiences into stronger customer relationships.
Other findings from the report help explain what could close this gap. User experience is the top platform selection criterion for 70% of buyers, followed by pricing at 63% and integration capabilities at 59%. Analytics and reporting matter to 46%, while AI capabilities rank considerably lower at 30%. The message is clear: sophisticated features cannot compensate for friction in the fundamentals.
This becomes particularly important as vendors accelerate AI development. While 42% of vendors report fully integrating AI, only 7.5% of buyers say the same about their organizations. Vendors, therefore, need to ensure that innovation aligns with customers' readiness and actual business needs rather than widening the expectation gap further.
Ultimately, platform satisfaction in 2026 depends on more than adding features. Vendors can strengthen loyalty by continuously gathering feedback, improving usability, simplifying administration, strengthening integrations, providing effective support, and demonstrating measurable learning and business outcomes. The strongest platforms will be those that turn technological innovation into value that customers can actually experience.
