The Roberto Marzano’s 9 Effective Instructional Strategies Infographic

Robert Marzano, an educational leader, conducted a meta-analysis of instructional strategies to determine which were the most effective. The Roberto Marzano’s 9 Effective Instructional Strategies Infographic summarizes the nine instructional strategies which rose to the top:

  1. Identifying similarities and differences
  2. Summarizing and note taking
  3. Reinforcing effort and providing recognition
  4. Homework and practice
  5. Nonlinguistic representations
  6. Cooperative learning
  7. Setting objectives and providing feedback
  8. Generating and testing hypotheses
  9. Cues, questions and advance organizers

While the nine strategies provide useful suggestions for instruction, they are even more powerful when accompanied by other essential ingredients for student learning.
