The Evolution of the Way We Work Infographic
A recent medical journal study revealed that people who sit for most of their day are 54% more likely to die of a heart attack. In the age of 60-hour workweeks, mesmerizing computer screens, and binge-worthy Netflix shows, it’s important that we take into account how much we’re sitting each day — and how it’s affecting us.
The good news is, most people are aware of the effects of sitting all day. More and more “sitters” are working stress-reducing exercises into their daily routine or purchasing fitness tools that remind them to move around throughout the day. Companies are beginning to invest in more ergonomic office furniture such as standing desks and even treadmill desks to break the “sitting is the new smoking” stigma.
Folks at Wrike decided to revisit history and unravel the evolution of sitting as well as the revolution of standing in the office. Check out The Evolution of the Way We Work Infographic for the stories behind sitting, standing, and even kneeling in the office.
