In this digital age where internet connection is, rather than a privilege, a normal part of life – anyone can easily access, create and share information, opinions and beliefs. It is important for teachers, parents, and all stakeholders in the community to be committed not only in determining the credibility of sources but also carefully examining the underlying motivations, beliefs and bias of the creator. Do you know that kids these days learn computer skills earlier and faster than the required life skills for survival and worthy existence? This is based on a poll from mothers of children ages 2-5 from different countries.
- More young children know how to play a computer game (58%) than swim (20%) or ride a bike (52%)
- 28% of young children can make a mobile phone call, but only 20% know to dial 911 in case of an emergency
- 69% of children aged 2-5 can operate a computer mouse, but only 11?n tie their own shoelaces
- More small children can open a web browser (25 percent) than swim unaided (20 percent)
