Adventures in Online Learning Infographic

Before online learning, it was just called distance learning and that concept can be traced back as far as 1840! Sir Issac Pitman, the English inventor of shorthand, came up with an ingenious idea for delivering instruction to a potentially limitless audience: correspondence courses by mail. The Adventures in Online Learning Infographic illustrates some of the history of online learning, traces it’s journey into today’s higher education environment, and discusses the pros and cons. Although we have come a very long way, we need to know where we are coming from because still have so much farther to go.
